AFFIRMATIVE ACTION BY ANY OTHER NAME IS PROFILING

     I, for many, demand that our trusted protectors use affirmative action to protect us from terrorism.

            Affirmative action by any other name is just profiling.

  • Recognizing groups based on distinctive features or characteristics of the individuals is profiling.  
  • No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States is profiling.
  • Policies to give preferentiality for specific or distinctive features or characteristics to increase opportunities is profiling.

   Did you know that the Federal Courts have ruled that universities may use race as a factor in college admissions to give as much as 20 point leads over others but law enforcement is denigrated for using criminal profiles to protect lives?  Should you question if these students are also graded by affirmative action, i.e. profiling? 
            Could your surgeon have been graduated with extra points because of profiling?  
            How qualified can this be?
   Can anyone trust the degree of any individual when the degree is dispensed, rather than earned by any method other than hard work and high standards? 

   How sad it is, that now, when you say, “Wow, a Harvard graduate!” it may simply mean that the so-esteemed degree just meant 20 extra points over that other guy who earned real “C’s” working hard to pay his tuition.  
            Doesn’t that make the A’s & B’s more like a D’s and F’s?

   Life is a profile. When you pick your mate, you are profiling. You like short, or tall, black or blonde, blue eyes, hazel eyes, brown eyes?  
Most people are drawn to a type, a profile, distinctive features or characteristics.
 

   The next time you pull that lever in the voting both, or make an appointment with your broker, your doctor, or your lawyer, think about it. 
            Think about it!

LIFE IN Pelosiobama LAND

This caused a problem: Included was a shot of the Obamas posing with Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, his wife Sonsoles Espinosa, and two daughters, Laura, 16, and Alba, 13, who've never had photographs of themselves published previously in print or online due to a Spanish law prohibiting the media from doing so. The photo of Zapatero and his family with the Obamas was quickly removed from Flickr at the request of the Spanish government but still lurks online (in the shot seen here their faces are blurred). The flap is adding concerns on the issue of the privacy of world leaders' children in the digital age.

Writing on The Daily Beast today, Republican Senator John McCain's daughter Meghan expressed sympathy for the girls, who've been labeled as "goth" in the photo.

In a shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate, President Obama bowed to Saudi King Abdullah at the Group of 20 summit in London last week.
Mr. Obama later said in Strasbourg, France, "We have to change our behavior in showing the Muslim world greater respect." Symbolism is important in world affairs. By bending over to show greater respect to Islam, the U.S. president belittled the power and independence of the United States.
The bow was an extraordinary protocol violation. Such an act is a traditional obeisance befitting a king's subjects, not his peer.

Obama seems incapable of balancing the need to be a national leader and his childish desire to retain his image as the uber cool dude he so clearly believes that he is.
The fact that he felt the need to go on Jay Leno at all to sell his stimulus plan, budget and banking bailouts shows that he has communications issues. The public are not buying his spending splurge, or his administration's confused attempt to kill off executive bonuses.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had an embarrassing moment when she presented a gift to Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov that was intended to display the Russian word for "reset" -- a reference to Vice President Joe Biden's statement that the U.S. wants to reset relations with Russia.
The gift read "peregruzka."
Mrs.Clinton said, "We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?"
The Russian diplomat answered nyet. Peregruzka means "overcharged," he explained.
"Reset" is "perezagruzka." U.S. officials said they would fix the gift.

Election 2008, The Alliance Party


                A newly formed political party called the Alliance Party proved to be a formidable force in the 2008 election. This party was formed as a survivor effort by a 2000 Presidential Candidate that maintained he won the popular vote. In reality, he got a plurality of votes from the electorate residing in eight states that contain 57 percent of the U.S. population: California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington. The 2000 US Census Bureau makes public that these states have the highest proportion of foreign-born persons in the United States. 
                After the 2000 election, the Alliance Party, which was cultivated by an elite group of foreign investors, pushed though a Constitutional Amendment that eliminated the Electoral College and made the Presidential election simply, a winner by majority of votes. Although the majority of the US’s population lives in only nine states, in the past the Electoral Process protected the other 42 states voting rights, but the process was little understood by the populace. A Constitutional Amendment passed easily. When voters failed to fight for The Electoral College, it was sacrificed, leaving way for the worse aspects of human nature to be exploited.
                How real is this scenario? The facts are accurate–with the exception of the imaginary Alliance Party and the Constitutional Amendment. But, could it happen? Don’t say no until you think about how safe you felt before September 11, 2001. 
                The Electoral College guarantees that the all voters will have the opportunity for their vote to be counted, with their varying paradigms, ideologies, beliefs, skin color, religions, economic situations, and every other difference that make up the Hats of the United States, from Cochise headdress to Hedda Hopper’s millinery .  
                If not for the Electoral process, the President of the United States could be elected exclusively by voters exclusively from just the heavily populated areas. Think about it. California makes up 12% of the population of the United States, where New York and Texas make up 7% and 8% respectively.  Add it up. 
                If not for the Electoral Process, the nine states that make up half of the US’s population, New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Florida, New York, Texas, and California would decide the Presidency of the United States, and lesser-populated states, such as Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, Alaska, Hawaii, and South Dakota would not even be represented in the Election process. Thus comes the Alliance Party.
                Election 2000 was the perfect example of the wisdom of the Electoral process. Sixty percent (60%) of the states selected the president, and when the "folks" in states like South Dakota pulled that lever, their vote was counted. Sixty percent of the states decided who would represent the mishmash of individuals that make up the United States of America. One hundred percent of the states were represented simply because it was the fear of an Alliance Party, of which was the archetype Alexander Hamilton wrote about in Federalist No. 68 March 14, 1788:
 
”Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union”
 
                Still, pitifully, in the 2000 Election, while almost three-fourths (69%) of the US population was voter age, only 63% was registered to vote, and of the registered voters, only just a little over half voted in the election. Forty-five percent (45%) of our voter age population did not elect the President of the United States of America in the 2000 Election. ©

LINGUISTIC MALPRACTICE

To Say He Or She "Went Missing" Is Grammatically Irresponsible.

Went is the past tense of the verb go.
No one can "Go" missing.
To depart: he went, she went or they went.
To lose something or someone It is missing, She/He is missing.
Either they are missing or they are not.
To go implies an object. She goes to the store.
To the store is a prepositional phrase that is the direct object of 'goes.'
Went is the past tense of Go, therefore it needs an object.
Missing is an adjective --it modifies a noun.
Missing is not a place.
Missing is a condition.
One cannot "Go to a condition."
One cannot "Went to a condition.”
She/He went (somewhere) requires a noun not an adjective.
Go and went require a place, an object.
I go to..., She/He goes to..., They go to...
She/He is missing, was missing (from where).
She (He) was missed(at what time).
Nothing can went missing."
No one can went missing.
Nothing can go missing.
No one can go missing.
She/He is missing.
She/He was missing.
She/He was missed at a time.
They are missing.
They were missed.
One will be missing from my television if She/He keeps murdering the English language.

... and for liberty for which it stands

      It has aroused grown men to tears. It has inspired young men to fight. Many have died to protect it from defamation and dishonor. Nations salute it. Government and its citizens pledge their allegiance to it. It is the greatest symbol of liberty and justice in the world today. 

      Its colors represent red for hardiness and courage; white for purity and innocence; and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.             
      Songs have been written for it. It is called by many names, Old Glory, Stars and Stripes, Flag of the Free, Banner of Liberty, Star Spangled Banner, The Flag of the United States of America,
and June 14, is its day,  
                                    Flag Day.

             It was 232 years ago, on June 14, 1777, that the Continental Congress resolved:

...that the Flag of the United States be 13 stripes alternate red and white, and 
   the Union be 13 stars, white in a blue field representing a new constellation.

             The red and white stripes represent our original colonies and the stars, our 50 states.     
             The Flag of the Free never flies higher than in a time of distress when our citizens become one and then it blazes in its splendor. When the heroes that raised Old Glory on that hill in Iwo Jima in ’45, Ira Hayes, Franklin Sousley, John Bradley, Harlon Block, Michael Strank, and Rene Gagnon, it was so, as they said,
"every Marine on this cruddy island can see it."
         And as our history has borne many heroes, after a brutal terrorist attack on American soil, September 11, 2001, New York City Firefighters, Billy Eisengrein, George Johnson, and Dan McWilliams raised The Flag of the Free on Ground Zero and our nation resounded in a freedom call for which our troops willingly fought.   
      Wrought in history is The Flag of the United States of America. It was during the war of 1812 that the glory of the Star Spangled Banner flying steadfastly amid exploding bombs in Baltimore Harbor inspired Francis Scott Key to write when, the smoke cleared, what he saw, that “...our flag was still there," and the story of what he witnessed by the dawn's early light, became song, words that resonate evermore, that our flag waves O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave,  The Star Spangled Banner, our National Anthem.   
            This Banner of Liberty that evolved from 66 different flags began with another American hero, General George Washington, who asked Betsy Ross to make him a banner that would represent the liberty on which our United States was founded. 
            Then, one hundred years after The Flag of the United States of America was adopted by the Continental Congress, the anniversary of that declaration was first observed and Old Glory was honored, on June 14th
         The evolving official United States National Flag, has become a muse for equality and independence, and is a symbol of our ideals.  Americans all over the world display The Flag of The Free–not just on Flag Day but during times of conflict, Independence Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. 
            It is with reverence that we drape Old Glory on the caskets of those that have served and died, resting the starry blue canton over our champion’s heads. 
         No other flag flies higher than The Flag of the United States of America with exception for the Church Pendant as Chaplains conduct services at sea and the United Nations Flag. The deference to our Stars and Stripes carries meaning beyond national respect as the United States Flag flown upside down represents a distress signal, and is flown at half-mast as a symbol of mourning. 
         Scores of American children learn early to stand with hands over their hearts, watching, as The Flag of the Free unfurls dramatically aloft and free, symbolizing the freedom for which it represents.
            I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America…, are words written by Francis Bellamy that have survived 117 years  to Pledge Allegiance to our National Symbol Of Liberty. 
            In 1942 Congress made this Pledge of Allegiance part of the uniform code for the use of The Flag of the United States of America, and in 1954 President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed into law the two words that added "under God" to the pledge.         
            Since that time, schoolchildren all over The United States of America recite each day:

"I pledge allegiance to the

Flag Of The United States Of America

and to the Republic for which it stands,

one Nation under God,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

...a real American hero.

          It seems to me, what we really need is a hero

         ...a real American hero. 

      You know the kind, a rip roaring God Bless America and for liberty for which we stand I cannot tell a lie white hat hero.
      Remember ...he's the man whose word means more than what's written, and knows truth is honor and honor is a man.  We need a Mr.Smith, a JohnWayne, a Sam Houston, a Helen Keller, a real live, kicking, dare to be different, undefeatable, American hero.  What we need to hear is, It's okay to be American. It's okay to buy American. It's great to work and get ahead, because, that is American, and that is what makes America great. We need to say, Do like Americans. Americans have been doing it for years. And mean, “We're proud because Americans are leaders in this world.” We need to know that it's okay to put in a day's work, give a thousand percent and do more than 'your best' because that is American. 
      We need a hero who's not ashame when Oh say can you see... brings tears to his eyes and a lump in his throat; 
      a  flag-waving hero,
that stands with his head held high and hand over his heart when our Star Spangled Banner soars unhindered in the wind
…remembering,
that young men have fought and died to protect it from suppression and dishonor, with pride that American children pledge their allegiance to the Flag of the Free, and that other nations respect its glory. 
 
      Yes, what we really need is a hero.
 
      You remember the man. He's the one that led the march, that dove in the icy river, that carried the flag, that rode off into the sunset without telling you his name.

My Old Used Carr

  
            It seems to me that it wasn't that my Uncle Carr was particularly nosy, he was just a lone neighborhood watch on Park Avenue. He was almost a century old, ninety-eight. He said that it was his civic duty, sort of like the Lone Ranger and his vision had been to be a Ranger. Said it all started when he was a boy, and he made Eagle Scout, and that he was part Indian. I think, Cherokee, or maybe related to Pontiac. Before he retired, he was a trooper with the state and he really loved working outdoors. Then he moved to a suburban area and was like villager in a town and country.
            My memories of Uncle Carr were mostly of the nights when all my cousins and I would dart to his home (unless there was a storm) and we would pile on his front porch for our nightly summit to look at the galaxy for nova, or wait for an eclipse. The evening zephyr would blow through the aspen and set the tempo. He always started his stories by pointing out Taurus in the sky with his great big cutlass that we called the Excalibur, and then he would slice it toward Saturn, the big blade gleaming in the moonlight, taking our breath away. And he would really yell if the neighbor's Audi box (that's what he called radio) was louder than him.            
            It just seemed that he knew about everything, and we loved listening to his stories about when he was a trailblazer. We would sit silently, the only sound we made was to acclaim our stanza: Jim-my! He had been to Dakota and Laredo on a caravan, and roped wild mustang and rode a wild bronco. We never tired of hearing about his hunting expeditions for cougar, fox, impala, lynx, and jaguar and how crossing the ford near the delta ended up a quest to cope with spiders and super beetles. He told us stories of battles in Granada that always began with a Chevy cry that made chills go through our spines and we believed he was only about the most intrepid person in the world. To all of us, he was a grand voyager, an explorer, a real pathfinder. Our own celebrity. 
            He said that things were different today and that when he was a boy the fireflies were as big as birds. He even sometimes called them firebirds. 
           But, the thunderbird of his life happened after the Christmas he had bought Aunt Mercedes a sable coat. She was rather cavalier about it and then on a caprice, she ran off to Monte Carlo with Uncle Carr's sidekick, a courier that was working as an escort. She thought the courier was supreme because he once had been a Samurai. He gave her a diamond ring that looked like a prism and it turned out to be a topaz. 
            It was classic story. Uncle Carr always told it with a prelude about her being like Cressida, the Trojan woman that was unfaithful to her lover. He hired a tracer to probe into where she had gone, but she could always dodge him. Uncle Carr warned us boys not to let a pickup like her get her talons in us. He said she thought she was Crown Queen Victoria. But, I know he missed her, because when he recalled her legend he talked about her like she was regal, and sometimes he thought he saw her, but it was only a mirage. It turned out that she liked the rover life and made her mark picking up an occasional diplomat, and once a Marquis. She thought he was a regency, like a king. 
            Uncle Carr didn't hate many things. Maybe just golf and New Yorkers and after Aunt Mercedes ran off, the continental dynasty (that's what he called it). He hated royals. 
            More than anything, I enjoyed Uncle Carr telling the stories about when he was a boy and his favorite colt pulling him around in his cabriolet. His Pa once let him drive his brougham that was pulled by his prize pinto and he sure got in a fury when Uncle Carr was given a citation for driving too fast. His Pa always said, "That boy will do just what is his own accord."
            Uncle Carr never realized how much his stories meant to us kids. He made each of us want to excel. It was really sad that he thought that he had already lived his life and all he had was memories. So, he just talked about the past and quit living in the present. Sure sometimes things are bigger and better in memories, but he couldn't see the broad spectrum of things. I didn't even know it until later that he had altogether quit living. He was the omni to all of us and I thought it was just a bad joke when he called himself an old used Carr. ©
